Almost there...

This week was Rustin's graduation from POST (Police academy). I didn't think I would get all emotional but I did. It may sound weird but the spirit was really strong kinda letting me know we are on the right path. It has been a crazy and hard year for our entire family so to get this done was awesome. We are now living up north and trying to adjust. I am still freaking out about leaving my job, but it is getting to where it is not on my mind every second. I had to go to a wife class on how to deal with being married to a police officer, they explained that he is getting to live his dream right now and we need to support him instead of resent it. I kept thinking to myself, "But he made me leave my dream!!!" But that is why I am so thankful for the feelings I felt as he was walking down when they called his name. I got very teary and was so overwhelmed with admiration and love for my man. He really worked hard and got an academic award for getting above 90% on his tests and assignments. Plus he survived me on the phone crying and yelling that this is "killing me" (I know that is mean but I am who I am and that is CRAZY!).

This is him with his class. All the white shirts are conservation officers too. Doesn't it look official!?

This is him swearing in to be a law enforcement officer. It was really awesome!! The Keynote speaker was a Officer Townsend who is retiring and he talked about what it takes to be a great cop. It was so good! I think Rustin will do a great job.
This is him waiting to go and get his certificate and be announced, "Officer Rustin Nielsen!!!!" YEAH!!!!!! This is when I cried the hardest.

The family. It was great that they came and I'm glad Rustin's dad cried as much as me-I love it! Thanks for coming!! You all have had a crazy year too thanks to us and our life!!

Family Picture. We were reminded a million and one times that we are more important than this job and I have to learn when to tell Rustin when to turn the cop off! After this we went to the Division of Natural Resourses where Rustin was officially made a Conservation officer. It was so s0 special!! I got to pin his badge on!!!! Oh my gosh it was so amazing to be in that room and feel all the brotherhood amongst all the other officers and the pure love they have for their job. They were told that they have the funnest job in the state a million times. Also, my favorite part was when they welcomed him to the family and told him (and the others) that they were there for him and want him to be happy with them for at least the next 30 years. It hit me, "oh my gosh my hubby has a career!! We made it! We both have our jobs that we have wanted since we were little kids!" (It's not very often that that happens-ya know). I have to thank every single person who helped us reach this point!! Thank you for watching my kids so I could go have fun at work! Thank you for talking to me and letting me know that I will survive and that we are "almost there." It is so true when you are hiking when you are "almost" to the top of the mountain it is the hardest because you actually have the top in sight and it feels like it will never come!! We are not standing there yet, but "almost." Anyways I could go on forever, but I won't for your poor eyes' sake. Love ya and miss all you Cedar folks!!!

Sarah~ It was so good to finally meet you and get to visit with you! I hope we can stay in touch and maybe we can be a good support system for each other as well! :)
It's not silly that you felt the spirit during the graduation. Its' actually exactly how I felt, and Bry and I talked about it! It just all re-affirmed that this is the path we are supposed to be heading down right now, and the Lord has been there for us every step of the way! One thing I was very impressed with as well was just like you said, how they kept enfising(sp?) how important their families are, and that they are now a part of the brother hood! They are going to continually be watched over! How amazing! Anyways......sorry to blab on, just wanted to say hello! Keep me posted on what's going on! And congrats!!!
