Happy Groundhog's Day!!...Oh and that other thing....
Today the groundhog saw his shadow and gave the forecast of 6 more weeks of winter. I also woke up this morning and saw the shadow of my 20's. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love getting older. I think if I didn't have a child who wasn't so excited about my birthday, I would have seriously dug the hole I have been threatening to dig since I turned 25. Now I'm not going to make a list of what I've done the last ten years, but it was a very very busy 20's. Ten years ago I was working my buttocks off in Nursing school and waiting for my best friend to come home from a mission. Now at 30...I have served a mission myself, married the love of my life, gave birth to a very stubborn daughter, once again back to school and got my RN, had an overactive pooping son, became a labor and delivery nurse, had a self-discovery couple months, owned a house, become a mother to a kindergartner, a wife to a game warden and have a job where I'll be for a while. Okay I said I wasn't going to make a list and then something took over and my fingers just kept typing. So anyways....those of you who are still awake, let's continue. The thing that I do like about getting older is you obtain more memories and meet more people. I have had so many people in my life who I consider spikes on my running shoes while I have jumped over a few hurdles. So now that I have declared a mini obituary lets have a look at my day:
The main thing we as a little family do on each other's birthdays is pick out a cake. It is a big deal. Well this year Rustin hired two personal chefs to make or,I guess, bake my cake. As you can see he made sure everything was sterile. You know like: no feet on the counter, no licking the knife, and wearing hair nets over our beautiful blonde hair.
Here's the head chef himself. I got to be downstairs while they made me a "surprise." I had NO idea what it was, after all there was no evidence in the cupboard like cake mix, frosting and purple icing. It was really kinda sweet. Okay it was super sweet!
Instead of a happy birthday cake, they made me a Happy '30' cake.

Earlier this week, Sariah told me she had gotten me the most amazing gift. She told me I would LOVE it. She gave me details like "oh mom you will love it because it is your favorite color" and "Oh it is so snuggly you will want to sleep with it" and "it has the cutest bow tied around it's neck." I'm sure YOU have already figured out it was a purple teddy bear that we have had lying around the house for years. Considering I helped her "wrap" her gift while closing my eyes, I had NO idea what it was......So in this picture you can see the shock and astonishment in my face. I got to hold it while I ate my cake and Sariah went and tucked it into bed, until it woke up! I was like "C'mon Birthday (the bears name-duh!) can you just sleep for 5 minutes?"...oh it is going to be a looooong night.

what a horible friend I am. I didn't even know today was your birthday. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR FRIEND. I've been thinking about you a ton. Hope you are doing wonderful. So when are you going to come for a visit?
You make me laugh! I love that you helped wrap your present with your eyes closed and then looked so surprised when you opened it! You're such a great Mom.
Happy Birthday!
Oh. my. gosh! Your kids are so cute. This totally made me laugh!
Glad you had a good birthday. Turning 30 is hard, but hopefully our 30's are even better than our 20's, maybe a little less hectic. Love reading your blog! :)
I am laughing histerically!!! Glad you had a great day!!
Young at heart and that's all that matters! Glad you had a great birthday!
30? Really? I thought you were younger than me! Happy birthday!!! 30 is the new 20 anyway:)
Happy Birthday, Girl! I am calling you in 2 years to give me a motivational speech when I turn 30!
Happy Birthday Sarah!!! It looks like you were well taken care of on your big day! Sorry, I know its cheesy but the movie came to mind "Thirty, Flirty, and Thriving!" So I guess what I'm asking, is are you feeling all of those? How exciting though! I love the pictures, they are too cute! I hope you are all doing well! Once the weather warms up a bit, we want to get together with you guys and go do something fun!
good list of accomplishments, wish my son and your son could have gotten together to even out their pooping. Also, I'm glad you decided to lose your buttocks in nursing school. I loved having your help during my delivery, especially when you granted me my epidural. Hope your thirties are awesome!
