While I was sleeping...

I had the pleasure of working a night shift last night, so Rus decided to take the kids (and the dog) ice fishing while I was sleeping (hence the title). He did not have very much fun trying to keep 2 crazy kids from sword fighting with their poles and a very old slow dog entertained. But the fish were biting. Sariah and Bubba caught three each. He took the camera with him, but forgot to take the card (that his wife may or may not have left in the card reader by the computer). So he decided to take some pics when they got home. Here they are standing by their fish, which must have shrunk, because bubba said that he caught a "daddy" fish and it was as big as his arms are wide. I love kids' imaginations.

The dinner Rustin made from the fish. I know, ladies can you believe how much I have taught him about cooking!!? I hope you know I am so kidding, because I couldn't or wouldn't cook a fish-ewww! Now the next picture is my favorite:

So let's start from the very beginning. I have been dying in this cute little city because there is not a gym. I have heard from some people that you can get a key from the school district and go and workout at the school (I know-seriously-"here's a key to the school" gotta love small town life!) Well motivation not being my talent at this moment, I never went to get the key. Then one Sunday, out of nowhere, okay she was sitting right behind me-I met a girl at church. I started talking to her and she must have just discussed fellowshipping new members of the ward in her morning prayers, because she talked back. She was nice. She was very nice when she told me about the aerobics that are at the high school every Tues. and Thurs. night. I told her in a very reverent manner, "OH MY GOSH!!! I AM SO GLAAAAAAAAAAAAAD YOU ARE TELLING ME THIS!!!!" Then we proceeded to talk about our lovely town and how it took her about 2 years to fully accept that this is where she will be living. I nearly hugged her-awkward! So I went on Tuesday, I met some girls on the way in the building from Morgan, I said, "you drove all the way from Morgan?" And they both replied, "Yeah, she's that good." GULP! So the instructor is this powerhouse who must have been given like 10 times the normal dose of endurance than me. Holy Crap she kicks your butt-and when you leave you feel like kicking hers-that is the sign of a good workout. But, the one thing that I have noticed since last Tuesday is my mood. As most of you know, I am usually one of those people who OOOOOOOZES positivity and joy, especially about myself. Well I have been feeling so much better lately. I think it really is this stinkin' class!! So now that I have written a novel about my state of being, let me explain the picture above. You see in this class you have to bring your own weights and your own mat. I bought me a yoga mat and I opened it today and left it on the floor in the living room. When I turned the corner today, this is what I saw. She did not know I was taking the picture until the flash afterwards. It is such a classic Sariah pose.

Here's bubba after our "teacher" (Sariah) would not share her mat when we were doing stretches that she had learned on Sprout t.v. I gave him a blue towel and told him boys don't want to have a pink mat anyways. I bet some of those men figure skaters had pink mats when they were boys.....I'm just sayin.

Sariah left for a minute......

This is a perfect picture for my next piece of family happenings. We took Sariah to an appt with a therapist at the Children's Center in Salt Lake. It took a couple months to get in and so I had been really looking forward to it. After filling out a packet of questions about Sariah, from the place, that I swear was one question away from asking: "Could you please compile the number of boogers Sariah has picked out of her nose in the past 5 years?" Seriously....but the questions in the end were a huge help once we got to the appt. We sat 2 hours in the therapist's office. While Sariah and Bubba trashed the place jn toys, with her encouragement, me and the husband got to discuss ALL our concerns. It was so nice to have someone tell us that there was cause for concern. She went over our packets and discussed the outcome. Sariah is full to the seams with anxiety. I having never even heard that word before had to ask for a definition....:) She explained that it would be a good idea if Sariah came for several weeks and worked one on one with a social worker to learn how to express her feelings. I being such a lovely contributor to her anxiety get to come with her. But the most magical moment is when she explained that Sariah is not getting the sleep she needs because of not being able to fall asleep due to all the anxiety, and she told us about (to the theme of hallelujah chorus) MELATONIN! MELATONIN! It is a natural herb that we give her and her little bro every night to help them fall asleep. Oh my gosh!! Me and Rus have so much extra time at night to, you know play on the computer and play video games-so romantical!! It really has been an answer to our prayers and I am looking forward to helping her in therapy. The cutest part was at the end, the therapist was trying to explain to Sariah the plan of care and Sariah was, of course, ignoring her, but there was Bubba staring straight at her nodding his head like he was understanding the importance of every word she was saying. So hopefully we are on our way to a more peaceful child. For her sake I really really hope so because she is such a sweet kid.

Sarah,
I just love reading your blog. You crack me up.
I wouldn't cook fish either, and I love the pose of Sariah on the mat. :)
Hopefully the melatonin will work. My oldest, Cassidy, can be a bit 'stressed' over details of life too. Can't imagine where she gets it. ;)
Have a great day!

It's getting closer to being warm, I hope, so we need to try and plan a get together!

SARAH!!! I'm sorry you have been feeling down. I love you. I notice big time a difference in my mood when I excercise and when I don't. Funny how that works. Um... just so you know, CRAZY aunt Tahnee has been taking Melatonin for like a year now. LOL! I have always had a hard time sleeping. In fact, I have to sleep with a movie on. That stuff is AWESOME! Nic has been giving to her kids, they call it the "night-time vitamin" but it works like a charm. SO GREAT for Nic! P.S. I need to come for a visit :)
